March “Here I set my things to spring”

Lá fora,

tudo começa a florescer. Os seres verdes avivados pela chuva e a terra húmida, cresceram e expandiram-se pelo vale durante os meses de Janeiro e Fevereiro e este mês vejo com curiosidade os seus pequenos botões selados como surpresas, abrirem-se e revelarem as mais belas flores silvestres, as minhas preferidas. Cada vez que saio a porta de casa ou avisto o vale da varanda, vejo cores novas - os brancos dos pampilhos (Glebionis coronaria discolor) os amarelos das belas-noites (Calendula arvensis) e dos pampilhos-do-campo (Coleostephus myconis), os rosas dos bico-de-garça (Erodium moschatum) os violetas das orelha-de-lebre (Cynoglossum creticum) e os roxos das viperina (Echium tuberculatum) e os azuis das borragem (Borago officinalis), que este ano estão mesmo bonitas! Diariamente sinto que cada ser que nasce, cada cor que se revela é um ponto de luz que me maravilha. E espero ansiosa pelas andorinhas!

Outside,

everything begins to bloom. The green beings, invigorated by the rain and the damp earth, have grown and spread across the valley throughout January and February. This month, I watch with curiosity as their tiny, sealed buds—like little surprises—open up to reveal the most beautiful wildflowers, my favourites. Every time I step out of the house or glance at the valley from the balcony, I see new colours—the whites of crown daisies (Glebionis coronaria discolor), the yellows of field marigolds (Calendula arvensis) and corn marigolds (Coleostephus myconis), the pinks of musky stork’s-bill (Erodium moschatum), the violets of blue hound’s tongue (Cynoglossum creticum), the purples of purple viper’s bugloss (Echium tuberculatum), and the blues of borage (Borago officinalis), which are particularly stunning this year! Each day, I feel that every new being that emerges, every colour that reveals itself, is a tiny point of light that fills me with wonder. And I eagerly await the swallows!

também cheiramos flores, damos as boas-vindas à Primavera e recebemos Perséfone com os braços abertos.

Inside,

we also smell flowers, welcome Spring, and greet Persephone with open arms.

Este ano iniciei uma prática que me vai acompanhar durante todo o ano - um Diário desenhado, um olhar sobre a minha vida quotidiana, as pequenas coisas dos dias e também algumas das minhas leituras de poesia. Partilho convosco páginas do mês de Janeiro e até ao início do próximo ano ele será uma presença constante destas cartas.

Doravante apetece-me que esta correspondência seja mais feita de imagens - desenhos, fotografias, animações - porque essa é a minha forma natural de expressão, de pensamento e neste momento, não quero “estar em esforço” nos momentos que me importam. O Diário desenhado é uma representação dessa linguagem, da minha forma natural de “falar”.

This year, I began a practice that will accompany me throughout the year – a drawn journal, a glimpse into my daily life, the small things of the days, as well as some of my poetry readings. I share with you pages from January, and until the beginning of next year, it will be a constant presence in these letters.

From now on, I feel that this correspondence should be made more of images – drawings, photographs, animations – because that is my natural form of expression, of thought, and at this moment, I don’t want to “force” myself in the moments that matter to me. The drawn journal is a representation of that language, of my natural way of "speaking."

Para além do Diário desenhado, a minha prática expande-se por vários projectos que estou a desenvolver. Com o regresso dos voos entusiasmados dos polinizadores - é nesta época que as borboletas, as abelhas, as libelinhas, as joaninhas, entre outros, começam a fazer parte dos meus dias - tenho visto no seu labor - a polinização - um reflexo da minha prática criativa. Cada projecto é uma flor, cada vez que os visito e lhes dedico a minha prática é uma viagem que faço para recolher o pólen e ao mesmo tempo ajudar na sua fertilização, no seu desenvolvimento. E nas idas e vindas entre as flores/projectos vou espalhando as suas sementes por todo o ecossistema, neste caso o meu sistema criativo que se vai desenvolvendo em simbiose e dando lugar a novas ideias e expressões - o mel e as sementes que irão nascer nos próximos anos.

Desta prática nasceram este mês dois projectos que vos apresento aqui:

uma oferta feita de flores que vos dou a conhecer no final desta carta, na Loja.
E um projecto que nasceu da minha prática de atenção e presença, dos exercícios respiratórios que faço diariamente e da minha curiosidade por práticas de Arte Terapia (de uma forma autodidacta) relacionadas com a forma como me expresso - o Desenho.

In addition to the drawn journal, my practice expands across several projects I’m developing. With the return of the excited flights of pollinators – it is during this season that butterflies, bees, dragonflies, ladybirds, among others, begin to be part of my days – I have seen in their work – pollination – a reflection of my creative practice. Each project is a flower, and every time I visit and dedicate my practice to them, it’s a journey I make to collect the pollen while also helping in its fertilisation, in its development. And in the back and forth between the flowers/projects, I spread their seeds throughout the ecosystem, in this case, my creative system that is developing in symbiosis and giving rise to new ideas and expressions – the honey and seeds that will be born in the coming years.

From this practice, two projects were born this month, which I present to you here:

A gift made of flowers that I introduce to you at the end of this letter, in the Shop.
And a project that emerged from my practice of attention and presence, the breathing exercises I do daily, and my curiosity about Art Therapy practices (in a self-taught way) related to the way I express myself – Drawing.

Os Cartões Primavera estão disponíveis até 21 de Junho - encontram aqui o pdf para imprimirem numa folha A4.

São 8 cartões com as flores que nascem aqui no vale durante a Primavera. Quatro de tamanho A7 e dois maiores de tamanho A6, as linhas a preto são as marcas de corte.
