Para quem não me conhece, uma pequena apresentação:
o meu nome é Débora Figueiredo e sejam bem-vindos ao 5A com vista para o vale, a minha newsletter mensal. Fico muito contente por serem correspondentes das minhas cartas, obrigada!
Sou artista e ilustradora, trabalho sobretudo com desenho analógico. Crio imagens para capas de livros, cartazes, postais, fanzines, poesia, artigos, revistas, autocolantes e outros projectos.
A minha prática criativa baseia-se na observação directa da natureza - ver, estar presente. Falo com as árvores e as plantas, os pássaros e outros animais, desde que me recordo e sempre entendi o mundo natural como um todo, ao qual pertenço. Estas conversas silenciosas salvaram-me muitas vezes a vida e despertaram a minha curiosidade e imaginação, fazem parte da minha vida e estruturam o meu pensamento e as minhas emoções. Leio e estudo, de forma autodidacta, o que observo - botânica, observação de pássaros, biodiversidade, florestas, filosofia e religião, poesia, contos tradicionais e mitos. Através da observação, do estudo e do desenho tento compreender a natureza do que vejo e integro-me no mundo que me rodeia. Vivo na cidade, Lisboa, ao lado de um vale que vejo da varanda do meu apartamento, 5A. O vale desperta-me todas as manhãs, faz parte desta casa e faz parte de mim. Através de desenhos, imagens e sons interpreto a percepção dos ritmos da natureza, o momento da observação, a simbiose no mundo natural e relembro a união entre o natural e o maravilhoso.

For those who don´t know me, a brief introduction:
My name is Débora Figueiredo, and welcome to 5A with a view to the valley, my weekly newsletter. I am delighted that you are correspondents of my letters, thank you!
I'm an artist and illustrator working primarily with analogue drawing. I create artwork for book covers, posters, postcards, fanzines, poetry, articles, magazines, stickers, and other projects.
My creative pratice is based on the direct observation of nature - seeing, being present. I talk to the trees and plants, the birds, and other animals, for as long as I can remember, and I have always understood the natural world as a whole to which I belong. These silent conversations have often saved my life and awakened my curiosity and imagination. They are a part of my life and shape my thinking and emotions. I read and study, self-taught, what I observe - botany, birdwatching, biodiversity, forests, philosophy and religion, poetry, traditional tales, and myths. Through observation, study, and drawing, I try to understand the nature of what I see and integrate myself into the world around me. I live in the city, Lisbon, next to a valley that I can see from the balcony of my apartment, 5A. The valley awakens me every morning, is a part of this home, and is a part of me. Through drawings, images, and sounds, I interpret the perception of the rhythms of nature, the moment of observation, the symbiosis in the natural world, and recall the union between the natural and the marvelous.
